Hybrid Reasoning in BACK
نویسندگان
چکیده
Hybrid knowledge representation formalisms consist of two or more diierent subformalisms for representing diierent kinds of knowledge or knowledge in diierent kinds of representation formats. For a semantically well-founded hybrid formalism not only a precise semantics for each of the participating subformalisms has to be given but a semantics for the interrelationship between these subformalisms as well. A hybrid representation system therefore has to be implemented as a hybrid reasoning system taken into account these semantic models. The BACK system as an instance of this class of systems will be described with respect to the underlying semantic model and the demands for a reasoning component as one part of the realization of the formalism. The consequences and limits for the implementation of the BACK system are discussed.

Comprehensive Decision Modeling of Reverse Logistics System: A Multi-criteria Decision Making Model by using Hybrid Evidential Reasoning Approach and TOPSIS (TECHNICAL NOTE)
In the last two decades, product recovery systems have received increasing attention due to several reasons such as new governmental regulations and economic advantages. One of the most important activities of these systems is to assign returned products to suitable reverse manufacturing alternatives. Uncertainty of returned products in terms of quantity, quality, and time complicates the decis...
متن کاملComputational Complexity of Terminological Reasoning in BACK Published in Arti cial Intelligence
Terminological reasoning is a mode of reasoning all hybrid knowledge representation systems based on KL ONE rely on After a short introduc tion of what terminological reasoning amounts to it is proven that a com plete inference algorithm for the BACK system would be computationally intractable Interestingly this result also applies to the KANDOR system which had been conjectured to realize comp...
متن کاملClinical reasoning assessment through medical expertise theories: past, present and future directions
Exploration into the concept of "medical expert" dates back to more than 50 years ago, yet yielding three leading theories in the area of clinical reasoning, namely, knowledge structure, hypothetic-deductive, and dual process. Each theory defines “medical expert” in a dissimilar way. Therefore, the methods of assessment through which the experts are identified have been changed during the tim...
متن کاملIssues of Integration and Balancing in Hybrid
In the last several years the hybrid approach to Knowledge Representation has received much attention, because it was felt that one monolithic knowledge representation formalism cannot meet all representational demands. In this paper we will present one particular hybrid knowledge representation system, BACK, concentrating on matters of how to integrate diierent subformalisms and their interpre...
متن کاملImproving Agent Performance for Multi-Resource Negotiation Using Learning Automata and Case-Based Reasoning
In electronic commerce markets, agents often should acquire multiple resources to fulfil a high-level task. In order to attain such resources they need to compete with each other. In multi-agent environments, in which competition is involved, negotiation would be an interaction between agents in order to reach an agreement on resource allocation and to be coordinated with each other. In recent ...
